Are you interested in the porn industry? Do you even want to work in this professional sector? I’m going to give you my opinion since I got into sex work myself!

First of all, let’s remember the basics. In etymology, the French word “pornography” comes from the ancient Greek term pornográphos which is composed of pórnê which means “prostitute” and of gráphô which means “to write”. The pornographer is therefore the author of writings, drawings, more generally works, on the subject of prostitution. Hey, does that mean that everyone who does porn, even as an amateur, is a whore?

So let’s take a closer look at the word “prostitution”. It comes from the Latin term prostituo made up of the prefix pro- which means “in front” and of statuo which means “to pose”. Ultimately prostitution is simply the act of “posing in front”. There is nothing offensive. By extension, from an economic point of view, prostitution is the activity of posing someone or something in front of an audience for the purpose of selling. I understand better the expression “to walk on the sidewalk”. These are the people who take to the streets to sell their services. Well, well then I’m doing the cable. I sit in front of the screen, and I sell my stuff.

In economics, you can sell goods (things you can touch) and services (things you can’t touch). A body jiggling on the internet cannot be touched, but it does a lot of service. Because people pay to see things they love moving on their screens. The moment someone is ready to offer and someone else is ready to ask, then there is a possible market. Who says market, says industry.

So we work to produce things to offer to others. It is no different in the porn industry. Actors play in videos (like me). Web platforms host these videos on the internet (like Pornhub). Internet users are watching these videos. They have a good time of entertainment. And sometimes, it makes them want to buy the things that are around these videos (sextoys, naughty games, dating services …) to vary the good times. Merchants sell these things that are produced by companies. Everyone is benefiting. Workers can pay their bills, and customers have fun in the wonderful world of pornography.
